The book is in English
For the first time, a book traces the history of the chronographs that marked the 20th century. Through 30 dense chapters, and thanks to over 450 previously unpublished illustrations, the watches are detailed, compared and evaluated.
Mythical chronographs such as the Omega Speedmaster, the Heuer Carrera, the Rolex Daytona, the Longines 13 ZN, the Universal Tri-Compax, the Breitling Navitimer, the Zenith El Primero, etc., are here with their main variants. And many other classics, often forgotten, are also present. These include the Mido Multi-Centerchrono, the Minerva 13/20, the Excelsior Park 4, the Index-Mobile by Dubey & Schaldenbrand, the Eberhard Contodat, the Enicar Jet Graph, and many others. There are even rare gems like the Invicta Chrono-Sport, the Blancpain Air Command and the Angélus Chrono-Datoluxe.
The book will enable the amateur to discover the richness and variety of collector's chronographs. For the more experienced collector, it offers invaluable advice on refining knowledge and discovering new horizons.
It took no less than two doctors to complete such an undertaking, which required more than three years of preparation:
- Joël Pynson, medical doctor and ophthalmologist, is a specialist in the history of the chronograph. He has written numerous articles on the subject in the specialist press, and is the author of the reference work “Le Chronographe de poche Suisse”, published by Editions Chronométrophilia/Simonin.
- Sébastien Chaulmontet, a lawyer with a doctorate in law, is one of the most gifted watch movement designers of his generation. He is also a well-informed collector whose opinions are authoritative.
