Achille Hirsch created a number of businesses in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The Compagnie des Montres Invar was intended to produce precision watches with their own calibers. The Invar brand was subsequently used by Achille Hirsch's sons, and the company ceased to exist in 1992.
Forgotten today, Eska watches were nonetheless extremely original, both the men's watches and the superb women's jewelry watches. The company was one of the many victims of the "quartz crisis" in the late 1980s.
This American-Swiss manufacturer from the very early 20th century produced high quality watches, and created the Avia brand, taken over much later by Degoumois & Cie.
Compared to other century-old companies, Ardath's lifespan was relatively short at 60 years, but from the late 1950s onwards it created some really interesting models, such as diving watches and dual time zone watches.
