Fritz Spahr-Benoit started out as a jeweller in Lengnau in 1925 [1]. In 1932, he ventured into watchmaking, setting up the Eloga watch factory [2].

He was an établisseur, using calibers supplied by Ébauches SA, and specialized in chronographs, water-resistant watches and calendar watches.

A new factory was built in Lengnau at the end of the 2nd World War, and the company continued to expand.

In 1950, Fritz Spahr-Benoit stepped down from the Board of Directors. He was replaced by Fritz Spahr-Stotz and Margaret Spahr-Stotz [3].

The watch ranges are still very classic, and the first automatic watches are not launched until 1961.

1961

In 1969, Eloga was acquired by the Fortis company [4], and the same year Fortis and Eloga launched the Flipper watches with one-piece plastic cases. These were diving watches, water-resistant to 200m, with rotating bezels.

1969

The Eloga brand was gradually abandoned by Fortis, however, and Eloga SA went bankrupt in 1984 [5].
