Initially a specialist in complicated pocket watches, Vulcain became internationally renowned for its famous Cricket alarm wristwatch, which has gone on to enjoy numerous incarnations. The brand almost disappeared with the "quartz crisis", but was revived.
Alpina occupies a special place in the history of Swiss watchmaking, as it was originally a grouping of retail watchmakers, first in Switzerland, then in several countries. This particular structure did not prevent Alpina from producing its own watches, before being transformed into a traditional company, the form it still has today.
This American-Swiss manufacturer from the very early 20th century produced high quality watches, and created the Avia brand, taken over much later by Degoumois & Cie.
