Achille Hirsch and his numerous descendants created multiple businesses in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The Vigilant Watch Manufactory was intended to produce economy watches and was one of the first Swiss factories to make wristwatches in 1900. It ceased to exist in the 1930s.

The true story of Ed. Kummer and Atlantic watches

Atlantic
Ed. Kummer was a major manufacturer of Roskopf watches and was one of the few factories to be taken over by ASUAG during the creation of the Swiss watch trusts. With the quartz crisis, the company became independent again and took the name Atlantic.
