The Manufacture d'Horlogerie Tramelan Watch Co. was founded in Tramelan in 1907. It was the birthplace of the DAMAS brand.

When Tramelan Watch went bankrupt in 1923, the Béguelin & Co. factory took over the company and all its brands, including DAMAS, and kept it going for almost 50 years.
