Hailing from Austria, Sigmund Liebmann set up his first watchmaking factory S. Liebmann in Biel, in 1917 [1].

1920

In 1923 he registered the Liema trademark and the company became Sigmund Liebmann, fabrication des Montres Liema [2].

In 1927, the company became Sigmund Liebmann, fabrication des montres Liema, Siglib et Albee [3].

1928

In 1930, Frieda Liebmann married into the Wyler family, and the Liema brand was taken over by Wyler, who founded Montres Liema SA in Biel [4].

Frieda Liebmann-Wyler becomes Liema's managing director.

Liema thus became a second independent brand of Wyler, not to create a more economical watch range, but rather to offer watches with highly innovative designs.
